DMC Leads PPP in Providing 3,000 Meals to Flood Affected Communities in Kaduwela DSD

In partnership with Union Assurance PLC and Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, the Disaster Management Center provided 3,000 meals for flood affected communities in the Kaduwela DS Division. The program is scheduled for 03 consecutive days and the initiative was facilitated by Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL).

Throughout the past few days, the DMC has been relentlessly responding to the immediate needs of those affected by adverse weather conditions including floods and landslides. As a result of the prevailing conditions brought on by the monsoon, over 200,000 persons were affected while 20 deaths were recorded in the past week. Given the pandemic situation and the existing regulations in the country, coordinating evacuation and responding immediately had to be planned with careful deliberation.
